Samonas Traditional Villas

The traditional settlement of Samonas is a complete renovated neighbourhood in the village of Samonas, in the district of Apokoronas Crete, at an altitude of 400 m and at a distance of 25 km from Chania. Samonas is a peacefull picturesque village which still preserves its authentic character since is really small and quiet and has very few inhabitants.
 
The settlement is built on a hill slope and it has such an orientation that it offers an impressive mountain, valley and sea view from all houses. Looking over from the property's location, you get the impression that you could touch the Cretan White Mountain, or dive into the vast Cretan sea.

The reception area presenting the image of a small traditional coffee house where visitors may taste local delicatessen and our homemade products like tsikoudia and rakomelo, wine, extra virgin olive oil with local herbs, selfmade dairy products and jams, and many others.  During their stay, visitors can buy in this area most types of cretan products as well as a small variety of necessity items. This area has a laptop for free use and provides the possibility of wifi internet connection as the entire property as well. 

Accommodation

All our dwellings are two-storey (maisonettes) with unlimited view to the mountains, valley and the sea. They are exclusively built in stone and wood to match their surroundings.
Each is built at a different level due to the ground's steep slope, with common courtyards as well as independent verandas or balconies and quiet corners.

All dwellings have two main entrances with traditional rustic locks and big iron keys. They are decorated with many small folklore objects and antiques. All incorporate the same comforts and luxury, although they differ in size and layout.

• No2 Matzourana - Double room dwelling of 50 m2 which may accommodate up to 4 persons. Its areas are made up in four different levels. It comprises a balcony and one covered veranda.
• No3 Diktamos - Double room dwelling of 60 m2 with the possibility to easily accommodate up to 4 persons. The bedroom is located on the ground floor and its two walls is natural rock under the soil. It incorporates one independent courtyard. 
• No4 Faskomilia - Double room dwelling of 70 m2, easily accommodating up to 4 persons. The characteristics of this dwelling are the traditional wooden stove, the large chimney and the well, all found inside the house. It incorporates an indoor veranda, a large independent court.
• No5 Malotira - Double room, newly built dwelling of 75 m2 easily accommodating up to 4 persons. It is built with traditional materials and in a traditional manner and totally blends in with the natural environment. Incorporates one indoor veranda with panoramic view to the entire area of Apokoronas and cretan sea,and one independent courtyard.
• No6 Fliskouni - Double room new dwelling of 80 m2, in total harmony with the area and the oldest buildings. It may accommodate up to 4 persons. The only one with canted tile roof in the bedroom, located higher than all the other dwellings. It incorporates two indoor verandas with mountain, valley and sea view.

• Fully equipped built-in kitchen with oven, ceramic cook-stoves, refrigerator, freezer, dish washer, microwaves, fask7coffee pot, toaster, small electric sweeper, pressure cooker and a whole line of well-known kitchen items and top quality dinner service.
• Dining room with a large table and chairs.
• Sitting room with fireplace, TV, DVD-player, stereo, telephone, mobile phone, double or triple couch with orthopaedic mattresses which very easily converts to two single or one double bed.
• Bedroom with double bed with orthopaedic mattress, toilet-mirror, wardrobe, screen, full-length mirror, iron, ironing-board, telephone etc
• Bathroom with shower, washing machine and washer dryer, hair drye.
• All dwellings have at least one independent courtyard or veranda and balcony with traditional outdoor furniture.
• Apart from the fireplace, all dwellings have air-conditioning on both floors and hot water from solar and electric water heater.
• All furniture is handmade carved from beech wood.
• The linen draperies are embroidered and of top quality while the quilts and pillows are feather.
